New ventures!

I have done well over the last month at all the craft fairs I have done and they have shown me which of my goodies are liked best and which were frankly losers.

Now I am broadening my horizons.

Soon I want to start running sewing and other crafting classes. I am just looking into venues etc at the moment, so watch this space. This is a picture of Max and I being crafty and building trains from toilet rolls etc. Hard to say who had more fun, me or him!

My dear friend Sam is opening a little shop in her local town of Kettering selling cute homewares and kids' clothes. Sound right up my street? Indeed it is! She will start stocking my quilts and other goodies outside London for the first time. Again, watch this space!

In the meantime merry Christmas

Having just watched the last episode of True Blood I am anxious not to wait until terrestrial tv shows it. Does anyone know exactly when FX are showing season 3?

Been reading reviews and realises I am addicted and need more asap! Christmas without Eric and Lafayette will be hard enough, not waiting a year!!

Poor Dylan has been on the sofa with a high temperature for three days now. He is due to sing carols at the shopping centre tomorrow. Not sure if he is going to make it. Oscar is on a school trip to Lille. He was told to buy me a stocking present (with the £30 I gave him, as he has no money of his own right now). Looking forwards to the Galaxy bar he picks up on the way back...

Craft fairs and sewing galore

I am constantly surrounded by fabric at the moment as I had a weekend of craft fairs and an open studio last weekend and several more coming up.

I did a sweet little quilting workshop with Elsie, she had made a patchwork quilt top which together we finished off and turned into a babyquilt for her new baby brother or sister due in 5 and a bit months. I really enjoyed teaching and am going to look into running some workshops from January.

I am also doing some last minute sewing for Original Stitch (originalstitch.co.uk) (am HATING ironing the straps although they look very good once stitched up)

and am having to replenish my stock of pencil bags as they sold so well this weekend.

I made a gorgeous new quilt last week too. Getting quicker! They can be bought via folksy (folksy.co.uk/shops/jenniecaminada) and at Penny Fieldings beautiful interiors in Orford Road E17 and at Olive Loves Alfie on Stoke Newington Church Street N16

new quilts in the shops

I have just delivered a quilt to Olive loves Alfie and tow to Penny Fielding's Beautiful Interiors. Very exciting!

Thursday, 7 October 2010

SO I got in with the wonderful E17 designers and am doing the E17 Designers Market at the Asian Centre on Orford Road, E17 on Friday 26th November 6 - 10! V excited!

Have also been talking to Sarah my lovely neighbour who supplies me with lashings of cake, sanity, fun and who has been one of my main homies these last few moths, about doing a mini art trail the weekend of 27 + 28 November. Sarah produces the most gorgeous drawings of insects and other small dead wildlife. So watch this space!

And finally I have been talking to Craftguerilla and am hopefully joining them as their knitting expert in the new year during their craft evenings in the Rose and Crown pub on Hoe street.

All go craft-tastic!

Quilts in shops!

I am making quilts to put into two shops, first real stock in shops for about ten years!

The lovely Penny Fielding is going to stock them in Penny Fielding Beautiful Interiors on Orford Road, E17 and the lovely Ashlyn is going to carry them in the cute Olive Loves Alfie on Stoke Newington Church Street.

Needless to say I have been working very hard the last week to get stock together, and have been neglecting my next essay (final one for this module), which is due in on the 12th! Tomorrow I am quilting still and Wednesdays are usually dedicated to playing with Minnie and Max, Thursday will be spent at the Knitting and Stitching show at Ally Pally so that leaves just four days to read up and write the essay. They all have been written right up against the deadline and I have done well in all of them so far so I shan't worry.

I have gotten my oldest interested in The Office so off to watch some more of it now, whilst surreptitiously preparing another quilt for sewing

e17 art trail

made some little dresses this week, as modeled by the gorgeous Ruby

yesterday and today I took part in the walthamstow open studio event, the e17 art trail.

The weather held out and it was thanks to the lovely Sarah who lives a few doors down that I ended up in her gorgeous garden with my stand which made it all the more fun and sociable.

Minnie quilt cover

I made this lovely quilt cover for Minnie's third birthday. Fell in love with it and found it hard to give it away. MUST one day make something for myself : )

Work like the weather hotting up a bit now. Have just finished Jacob's quilt, really cute blue gingham one. Had such problems finding right shade of gingham as could only find mid and dark blue, kept bringing samples in to show lady I was making it for but they were all wrong. Who would have thought light blue gingham would be so hard to come by??? Anyway found it in the end and handed it over today.
Have put myself down for the E17 Art Trail in September so must start getting some things together to show.
Very exciting and very daunting too!!!

Carter's Steam Fair

Took Max to the steam fair today and he was SO excited! He went on every ride he was allowed on (alas no Waltzers or bumper cars) and watched the wall of death stunts.

Flowers and cushions and kids

What a very full day.

I spent today with Sam and little Eve and my own Max, we ate millions of food in a cafe and then played in the park where it got all sunny n gorgeous.

Back home I started making a cushion for Olive of Olive loves Alfie, the shop in Stoke newington, as a sample. I am liking the ochre and oranges on it.

Had a big tree chopped down yesterday and we have so much more light coming into the house not to mention the garden! Neighbours are v happy too.

Tea now and bed as pooped.

Lucas quilt

I made this quilt for my nephew Lucas' first birthday. He may not have been too impressed but his mummy and daddy loved it. As did I!

Have had major upheaval here last few weeks with my partner and I seperating. He moved out last week and it is still all very acutely sore. Am looking forwards to recovering and recouperating. Finishing work in four weeks, everything will change again!
As I have threw gorgeous boys and three gorgeous boy cats and lots of lovely friends, I will be okay.

Sockpuppet and stuff

Dylan asked me to make a sock puppet for his friend Sean's birthday. Having just flicked through a wonderful sock puppet book we were both quite inspired. So whilst my personal life unraveled around me I crafted that man right out of my hair as someone once sang (sort of!) and made this little man. He is yet to acquire eyes and his little legs are not yet attached but he felt whole enough to do some lounging in the sun anyway.
